The Importance of Continuing Care in Recovery

Continuing care is a lifeline to thriving in recovery after you’ve finished your residential treatment. The support and growth that you have experienced during your stay at Headwaters continues without pause. Yes, you will have to “work it,” but continuing care gives you all of the tools and support to not just survive but thrive.

Imagine that you’ve made plans to build a house. You’ve laid a sturdy foundation, and you and your family are so proud.

It’s the biggest job you’ve ever done in your life, and you want to do it right, but you’re pretty exhausted from making the plans and laying the foundation. Besides, house building is new to you, and you know that getting the right tools and assistance will be the difference between a strong house and one that’s barely standing. No one wants to live in a house that could fall at any second. Now it’s time to find the right tools and an assistant who can help. That’s continuing care! And even better? You don’t have to look for the best tools or an assistant. We have been working on your discharge from treatment since the day you admitted into our p  and decided to change your life in ways that you had never dreamed possible.

If you or a loved one need help, call our admissions team today at 561-270-1753.

Here are some of the practical ways that continuing care can help you.

Headwaters collaborates with a trusted professional network that works worldwide vetting different programs and therapists. We make sure that every referral we recommend for continuing care is established, ethical, and clinically savvy before we refer you to them. Our team works hard to provide our Alumni Care Coordinators with the right, local referrals which are tailored to your unique strengths and challenges.

Some of the recommendations you might hear when you are getting ready to discharge our residential program are:

Different recommendations will be individualized from person to person.

Our Clinical Team will explore an individual’s recovery or living situation and the surrounding people, places, and things they will be going home to. Our goal will be to offer you the best options to remain successful and continue your sober life. The Alumni Care Coordinator will share all the information with you and your family. We can also assist in scheduling your clinical or medical appointments and prepare you for the step-down phase back to your home life.

There is no one-size-fits-all continuing care plan, so we create a customized plan that includes structure, accountability, and reliability. Real-life living is where so many alumni and families need practical answers, and quality continuing care is here to provide this support.

After all, you’re worth it.
